Burke Museum Thrills Adam Roseman

I just spent a few hours at one of my favorite places in all of Seattle, The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, which is located on the campus of the University of Washington. If you have learned anything about me, Adam Roseman, from reading my posts, then you know I am a fool for Native American culture. On display at the Burke is Weaving Heritage: Textiles from the Burke Collection.

The exhibit is billed as the first large scale display of the Burke’s collection of international ethnic textiles. At this marvelous show you will cast your eyes upon more than 130 exquisitely designed and “culturally significant” textile masterpieces. Spanning the globe from China, Japan, Indonesia and Southeast Asia, there are amazing examples of ethnic weaving art from right here in our own backyard. The Navajo, Hopi, and Pacific Northwestern tribes are represented as well as some magnificent work from Mexico and South America. Head over to UW and enjoy a very special show of ethnic textile art. Tell them Adam Roseman sent you.
